The Chick Inn

We got more chicks this weekend! We bought 15. Four are barred rocks. Three are Americaunas (or Aricaunas- I've seen both), which are the yellow chicks below. They lay "easter eggs," which are naturally blueish-greenish colored. The rest are black sex links. They are sooooo cute, I had to share some pics that Darby and I took.
Black chick....
Yellow chick....
Sleepy chick....
Mellow chick! This chick has cool chipmunk stripes, so we've named her Chickmunk!
These are 4-week-old barred rocks. Bless their hearts, they're at that ugly adolescent stage.
A whole box o' chicks!

So adorable! In response to your post on my blog, it is the same here at my house; i have a dog AND a cat, and they BOTH have their unique reactions to it! (not something i do often, mind you...that would make me sound like all i do is sit around all day and make the kitten purr!)...but, it is fun. they especially react to the meowing. thanks for your comment.

Chickmunk looks like a guinea...be interesting to read what it turns out to be. Your pics are as adorable as the little subjects...essentail little birds, warm and fluffy, cute and life affirming.
Thanks for keeping us posted of your barn like wonder...
take care-

True, Chickmunk is supposed to be an Americauna (Aricauna??), and for some reason, I have a feeling that it might actually be a rooster, not a hen. I have no sound reason for suspecting this, other than my neighbors had one with unusual striping like this one and she turned out to be a he. My favorite- I know it's not nice to pick favs- is the one sleeping in my hand. I've named her Bianca because she's so much fluffier and "luxurious." LOL. Bianca seemed fitting. The black ones, well, I'm having a hard time telling them apart as of yet. Will have to wait and see how they turn out before I attempt to name them.
